Make melody to the Lord in your heart

Music Ministries at FPCA

The music ministry at First Presbyterian Church Arlington offers a wide variety of opportunities for you to share your musical gifts to glorify God. Join us as we seek to pursue an understanding of Colossians 3:16 using our talents to enrich worship, nurture each other, and honor God with our lives.

  • Chancel Choir – This choral group is the primary worship ensemble for the 11 am service. We also sing for special services around Christmas and Holy Week. The Chancel Choir is more than just a great choir, it is a caring fellowship.
  • Ring of Praise Handbell Ensemble – The FPCA ensemble rings in services throughout the year. The group rehearses from September to early December, and January to May. Previous handbell experience is preferred, but not required. We always welcome new members!
  • Youth Music Ministries (YMM)– Choir and Handbells- Developing a soundtrack for their lives, youth in 6th to 12th grade learn choral music with an emphasis on scripture. The group sings and rings handbells periodically in worship services, and participate in outreach activities such as singing for retirement centers and homeless shelters. We attend the YouthCUE Baylor festival of youth choirs each year (not this year). Meeting in the Choir Room from 12:45-1:45, after a lunch in the Fellowship Hall. Parents can sign up here to provide lunch.
  • Children’s Music Ministries (CMM) – Striving to impart God’s love through His gift of music. The focus of CMM is on ministry to children rather than on performance. Children ages 4 (when school starts) through 5th grade participate in activities including music/singing and bells/chimes, instruments, and listening activities. The two sections are divided by age. CMM participates in the 11:00 worship service twice per year, usually in December and April. Meeting in Room 218 from 12:45-1:45, after a lunch in the Fellowship Hall. Parents can sign up here to provide lunch.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly;
teach and admonish one another in all wisdom;
and with gratitude in your hearts
sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God. Colossians 3:16
